What would you say is the hardest part about finding good leads? Finding people that actually want to talk to you? Getting that first foot in the door? The tools are there. Technology makes it easier to find prospective clients. How do you find the right people? How do you gather the right information?
You can excel at marketing, but it won’t do you much good if you don’t have an organized system that gathers the right information from people.
Where Can They Come From?
Leads can come from many different sources. Facebook ads have many different templates that you can use for lead generation. You can create a simple form in your ad that takes in basic information (name, number, email). You can link to your website where you have a more thorough form for leads already set up. If you post a lead generation form somewhere other than your site, make sure it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to fill out. You can even offer an incentive like downloadable content for filling it out.
What Should You Ask For?
This will depend on where you have your form. We’ll use our site for this example. Our full lead generation form is under our “Get Started” page. This is the center of customer inquiries, so we want to gather as much information as we can. The form hosted on “Contact Us” also includes a section where they can write what we can help them with. This gives us more information as to why they might be reaching out to us in the first place. For “sidebar forms” only basic information like name, phone number, and email is needed. Email and/or phone number are essential because this is how you will be reaching out to them. You can make these fields “required” so they have to put it in order to submit the form.
What Do You Do When You Acquire Them?
Reach out! Say hello and introduce yourself and your company. Your first thought shouldn’t be to try and sell them something immediately. You want to first establish that first point of contact. Building a long-lasting customer relationship starts with how you handle that first phone call or meeting. When you do get the chance to talk to them, listen to them. They might be looking for a new marketing partner because they are having issues with their marketing strategy. See a need, fill a need. Take plenty of notes that you can then include in a follow up email or phone call. Clients like to know that you are listening.
